Combine simple painted acrylic backgrounds with collage and silhouette to create interesting dynamic works. We will be working on paper but techniques are easily transferable to canvas, cradled panel or board. Material fee includes ephemera, papers, collage materials, mediums etc.

The Olde Mistick Village invites you to join Meet the Artists and Artisans for their 45th Summer show on the tree shaded lawn across from I-95N. exit 90 from 10-6, Rain or shine, Free admission and parking. Juried fine artists, sculptors, photographers, handcrafters, chosen for their original work, create on site as you watch portraits, coastal scenes, pottery, exciting art/hand crafts emerge before your eyes. A great variety of juried exhibitors from Maine to FL. paint, draw, sketch, with -oils, hand ground minerals/gems, water colors, acrylics, graphite, charcoal,S on canvas, panel, slate, silenced violins, mail boxes, barrel slats, buoys, bird houses; Styles include -Realistic, Representational, Abstract, Renaissance, Contemporary- paintings of nature, sea and harbor scenes, underwater sea life, fantasy, animal, floral, figure and portrait studies, caricatures, in vibrant colors, or pastel hues: Photographers- feature-international scenes of nature, landscape, sculptures, hidden villages, architectural wonders, ocean and lake, human and animal pictures: Ceramics-functional, decorative, fired in kilns, hand built and molded at the show: Wood carved Bellamy eagles, fabulous turned bowls, trays, spoons, hand crafted writing instruments, from storm downed trees: Jewelers mold and create sterling silver, gold, clay, dichroic glass into Art to wear. Avon - Crafts for Adults classes

When: Starting June 6, 2018
Popular instructor, Janet Valencis, will be returning to the Avon Free Public Library this summer to teach a three-week series of Crafts for Adults classes. Have fun, meet new people, be inspired, and leave with your own piece of artwork! For ages 16 and up. There is no charge, all supplies are included, and registration is not required. Come to one class or all three. Classes will meet from 3:00-4:30 in the library's Atrium. The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, June 6, 3:00-4:30 p.m. Create a vase full of flowers using acrylic paint techniques.
Wednesday, July 11, 3:00-4:30 p.m. Create beautiful art using colored papers for a watercolor effect.
Wednesday, August 8, 3:00-04:30 p.m. Create your own monogram using simple patterns and colors.

If the answer is yes, consider joining the Morning Book Club. The informal group meets once a month on Wednesday mornings at the Avon Free Public Library. Wednesday, May 16 @ 10:15 a.m. Ice Bound by Dr. Jerri Nielsen. The true story of one woman's voyage of self-discovery through her extraordinary struggle for survival at the South Pole.
Wednesday, June 20 @ 10:15 a.m. Homer & Langley by E. L. Doctorow. A novel based on the true story of two eccentric brothers in 1940's New York.
